Live blogging my question for Elizabeth May
Waiting at an empty union station. Only one green sign in evidence. Elizabeth May should be here any minute.
My question: “is it racist to support Hezbollah?” Or “is Hezbollah a terrorist organization?”. Whichever I remember.
Update: she’s not here till eleven now. Delayed.
Updater. Hockey hall of fame and I can’t find a Canucks jersey. Some guy is rubbing people in a massage chair near some trophies. It’s sparsely attended. I have jet lag and I can’t fake interest in organic produce for another four hours. Tindal confirms, she’s not here till past eleven. Like the trickle of people moving past me – I’m going home.
FYI – yes, mother I got permission to take pics at the event.

Hezbollah is both a terrorist/rebel organization and a humanitarian one. It’s possible to like one & not the other.

You can keep parroting that line but what you are not fully grasping is that Hezbollah’s social programs are designed to act as a recruitment program and provide cover for their military activities. Do you have any idea of the level of indoctrination which exists within their so-called daycare and youth programs for children? Hezbollah is not Doctors without Borders or a Shi’ite version of the Boy Scouts.

The Black Panthers ran a day care center.
The SLA handed out free food in South Central.
Al Capone gave money to Depression era soup kitchens.
Discuss.

…and Mussolini made the trains run on time. Good old-fashioned Canadian train efficiency, this. Great for being only a few hours late each way.
Oh, and to get closer to the thread’s theme, Hitler greatly increased the welfare state of Germany.

It’s an old trick designed to make the people dependent upon you and not inclined to want to rock the boat.

Hezbollah’s motto is: ‘cradle to grave’.
It means they make themselves so indispensible to the civilian population whom they control (and make no mistake, I DO mean ‘control’) that the very idea of existing independantly of them is unthinkable.
If you need to truly understand this methodology, take a look at how modern-day religious cults control their members. Textbook appliaction, Hezbollah is.
