Help put pressure on native groups to act against Liberal hatemonger
I posted on this person yesterday – a Liberal candidate in the riding of ‘Quebec’ who has talked about killing natives, and who is running specifically in order to crack down on natives.
This is getting some media attention and some attention in the blogs, but not nearly enough.
The press is wary of writing about ‘artificial’ controversies dreamed up by web-partisans. Rightfully so. But this one? This is too extreme to be allowed to sit. This isn’t artificial outrage.
We have to get the press involved. One way of doing so is to pressure native groups to make a statement condemning this candidate and to demand his removal. An appeal by relatively neutral native groups should be enough to get the press to stop ignoring the story.
I’ve put together a list of people that we can contact who can make a difference.
Patrick Brazeau
The head of the Congress of Aboriginal Peoples.
The best way to contact him is by leaving a comment on his blog here.
Phil Fontaine
Assembly of First Nations
The best way to contact him is by email: PFontaine@afn.ca .
Vera Pawis Tabobondung, President [email: nafcgen@nafc.ca]
Peter Dinsdale, Executive Director [email:pdinsdale@nafc.ca]
Association of Native Friendship Centres
The best way to contact each is by email.
I can’t find a specific contact person for this one.
Mohawk Council of Kahnawá:ke
Email: communications@mck.ca
Also, we need to get other native candidates to speak up – we’ve seen from the Elizabeth May controversy, that parties read their Facebook pages, so that’s a good place to start. Each name (except. Rob Clarke) is linked to their Facebook page:
Rod Bruinooge, MP (Con) [email]
Tom King, Candidate (NDP) [email]
Todd Russell, MP (Lib) [email]
Tina Keeper, MP (Lib) [email]
Rob Clarke, MP (Con) [email]
There must be many other natives in this election, but these are the only ones I could find. If there are more, please let us know in the comments section.
Please also let me know in the comments if you have contacted these people – it’d be nice to be able guage how many people are involved.
