Tuesday morning outrage : vet to be evicted for flying Canadian flag
By way of the April Reign blog:
Mark Murray, an ex-serviceman, is facing eviction from his subsided housing for flying the Canadian flag the local Royal Canadian Legion gave him last year. According to OHC; “the flag violates a rule requiring all subsidized properties to have a uniform appearance.” Because as we know “poor” people are bad and so should live in clinical, institutionalized settings just like criminals.
Bob Runciman (PC) pictured at the top of the page, is Mark Murray’s MPP. He’s also leader of the opposition in the legislature, and a member of the party which gave control of Mr. Murray’s home to the obtuse mandarins of the ‘Community Housing Authority in United Counties of Leeds and Grenville’.
One of those mandarins, Dorothy Theobald, has rejected any compromise and said that the flag must come down or Murray will be out on the street.
Runciman ought to stand up for vets, not just next to them – at the very least he should come out and make a statement in support of Murray and the flag.
If you would like to remind MPP Runciman of his obligations, he can be reached at the following:

I’m not sure if you heard the resolution to this one…. but this story has a happy ending.
There will be a bona-fide, regulation flagpole erected in front of the building – put up at the expense of the housing people, from which the vet’s flag will be proudly flown.
I heard an interview with the vet, and he agreed that this was a good solution. He said he didn’t realize just how badly his ‘flag-rig’ looked. I suspect the mandarin got a serious talking to, the vet will get to fly his flag, the housing people ’saved face’, everyone is happy and nobody is being evicted.
