I wonder how many people clicked through to this site hoping to see pictures of Xenu’s nipples or something? Probably a fair number. Shame on you – pervy buggers.
This clip is from a British show called ‘The Peep Show‘:

It’s funny how it is fine to make fun of scientology, but not mainstream religions. They are all just as ridiculous.
It’s not fine to make fun of “mainstream” religions (as you put it)? Since when? People do it every day. On your own blog you’ve got a youtube video ripping Christianity. Um, am I missing something?
Scientology is not a religion it’s a money making pyramid scheme, that’s run by a central corporation. They even have their own secret police, and slave labor camps. It’s not like any historical religions. It’s not even close. People criticize Scientology because of it’s dangerous policies, it’s litigious nature, and it’s secrecy. Christians will tell you up front everything they believe, Scientologists will MAKE you pay thousands before they tell you what they believe. I’m not going to list through all the differences, you’re an idiot if your can’t figure them out for yourself.
I sort of agree with Adrian AND Governor. I also think religion in general is kind of ridiculous – but it’s an insult even to religion and an undeserved compliment to $cientology to call $cientology a religion.
Whilst I think religion is grounds for ridicule, $cientology is far worse – it requires quick and decisive peaceful activisim to be applied with the express goal of dismantling the ‘Church’ in its current form.
The label of ‘cult’ fits $cientology better than ‘religion’, but even that doesn’t go far enough. $cientology is a flat out malignant, malicious, machiavellian money-making machine.
Yay aliteration! :D
Zoiks, The cool little clip from that UK Brit Com was exactly what people used to say to me every time I came to them telling them that I was a mormon for those 14 years. Glad I ducked that bit o’ ballyhoo.

What about christianity tithe and working value to give churches a life? Where d’you think pastors earn money to provide their family from???
Ho-ho, God’s spoken: “Churches are money-making machines if you’re able to read and praise Me a bit trough bible. I will feed y’all in this organisation named after mine –Christian. But hush! No tell everyone where the money come from or I won’t be able to buy you good foods, cars, homes, or even clothes you’re wearing.”
Doh!!!
Sometimes I wonder, were “mainstream” religions as new as Co$, might not they appear as wacky, money-sucking, secretive and cultish? Maybe not. But it’s moot, because I think all religions are rubbish, and I’m fine with seeing all of them mocked.
Well, except for Pastafarianism.
“It’s funny how it is fine to make fun of scientology, but not mainstream religions. They are all just as ridiculous.”
It’s the other way around – could you imagine a comedy series sending up Scientology the way that Father Ted sent up Catholicism?
Peep Show should have called it ‘Scientology’, just as the BBC drama series ‘Waking the Dead’ called a cult with self-flagellating members ‘Opus Dei’. While Opus Dei complained to Ofcom, only to have its complaint thrown out, at least it didn’t threaten to sue.
Co$ are so thin-skinned, they got a court injunction banning the screening or distribution of the 2001 film ‘The Profit’, about L Conrad Powers and the Church of Spiritual Science!
