Hidden Obama Messages on WordPress – WTF?!
I was curious about how many hits my blog got last month so I was looking at blog stats. 11,000 hits FYI, which is ok-ish.
Anyhow, I let the mouse sit for a second when this caught my eye:
Look closely – when the mouse hovers for a moment, you see this:
“Vote for Change”. Sound familiar? You’ve probably seen it here:
It’s an Obama slogan. Why, pray tell, do I get Obama slogans when I check my blog stats? I mean, I like WordPress, it’s cool, and free, and I’m not one to complain – but if they want all us right wing bloggers to feel comfortable using their service, to drive traffic to them, shouldn’t they keep their politics to themselves? Sure they have every right to support who they want, they’re a private company, but again, it doesn’t create a very welcoming environment for right wingers.
I wonder if Typepad shoves partisan politcal ads down your throat?
Exit question - I wonder how these McCain and Hillary supporters on WordPress feel about this? Women, Men? Any opinion on it? ? ?
NB – Please see ‘Matt’ in the comments. Yes THE Matt. He has an alternative explanation. It’s really weird because it makes no sense, as I had no other windows open. Deep down I suspect it’s a developer playing at something – but I have no evidence of that and at a point, you have to take someone’s word for it – so Matt’s good on free speech, and if he says, it’s something to do with my computer, then we have to accept that that’s the most likely explanation.

There’s nothing in our code that would do that, in fact it’s a Flash graph so you shouldn’t even see a tooltip like that. It’s likely just a browser bug from another window or something, especially since your mouse isn’t hovering near it.

It’s weird because I had no other windows open, hadn’t been on another Obama site or anything. It doesn’t make any sense. I saw it first when I was skipping past the stats – it flashed there for a minute – then I saw it again in the middle of the graph.

Yeah if we did a candidate endorsement it would be more like a Rickroll, where you are stuck watching a video until you computer crashes and you reboot just so you can get your friends.

Anything but that. I swear to god, if I have to see that damned ‘yes I can’ video one more time …
Melt my hard-drive, blow my speakers, blind me, but not that video.
