Why are you STILL a Liberal? Even your “leader” votes Tory.

kjhk.gifThe Liberals have backed down again. Dion has opted to vote for the Tory budget.

Why not just get it over and join the Tory back-benches. I don’t know how people of the left can justify supporting the Libs - all they do is prop up our right-wing government.

Seriously Liberals, have you thought about the NDP - they’ve got a lot of gimmicks that you can get behind. Why not the Greens - what better way to impress people at parties?

Your “leader” has abandoned you. He’s giving your votes to the Conservative Party and the Harper agenda. Being a Tory, I think that’s great - but how do you square it with your ‘principles’?

Is Harper being a Tory or is he a watered-down Tory/Liberal hybrid who puts out some liberal points to keep his party afloat or if Dion grows a pair he can point out that the liberals voted against some of their own ideas? A view on this idea is here: (an NDP blog) http://idealisticpragmatist.blogspot.com/2008/02/post-budget-puzzlement.html

I think you’re right that traditionally “liberal” Canadians either need to demand a difference between Dion and Harper or switch camp to NDP bliss. As per the Greens, their primary policy is the environment, but their economic policies would typically follow a conservative tradition (think social left, economic right on the compass), so it may not be for every disheartened liberal.
