Pranks I have no problem with. Kate’s prank went too far because she was impersonating a holocaust survivor - even though she didn’t come out and say ‘I’m a holocaust survivor’, she sent a picture to a pompous ass with the expectation that he would draw that conclusion. That just has to be one of those things that you don’t do. That I condemn unreservedly.
On the other hand, some pranks can be funny. Well, if not the pranks, at least the victim of the prank, provided that they fall for it again and again and again and again …
In my personal life, I actually had to sue a person who spent two full years doing just about everything possible to trick me into believing perfectly believable scenarios that turned out to be scams…
I didn’t see that humour while I was busy parsing every email for a hint of illegitimacy. It made it very difficult for me to take anything seriously unless I spoke to a person over the phone or met a person in public… [emphasis added]
how special. read the whole post here.

Not quite. It wasn’t the same thing each time. It involved “jokes” like posting my personal information and claiming that I was looking to be punished by large men. In some cases, I didn’t need to “fall” for anything.
Hey, son, I’m a pompous ass who helped run the 1996 BC Liberal campaign.
What’s your rationalization for that one, young fella?
Young Fella? I’m 32. young fella …
hmm … thinking back to the 96 election, I was a young idealistic volunteer in Elizabeth Cull’s office in Oak Bay. She was the NDP Minister of finance. We lied our asses off, lost the popular vote, pissed on the voters, but at the end of the day, we still won, didn’t we? I wouldn’t suppose throwing away what should have been yours for the taking is something to boast about…
For the record - I want nothing to do with the BC Liberals. I tried working with their youth wing, it’s too much of a pain, there are too many of their policies I disagree with, and too many of their MLAs that I personally dislike. I don’t want to be part of any organization just because I hate the other side more.
Kate never claimed the photo was of a hollocaust survivor….
Warrren K, a journalist AND a lawyer, should have checked it out before ‘jumping to conclusions’.
Frankly, I don’t think it was nearly as much of a ‘prank’ as it was an ‘unmasking’ of how ’some people’ will use unverified information, even though they ‘ought to’ know better!
By the way…Warren K. has repeatedly referred to Ezra Levant as carrying out ‘a Crusade’…yet Ezra is Jewish! Should not someone bring this gross religious insensitivity to the attention of the Human Rights’ Commissions???
“Kate never claimed the photo was of a hollocaust survivor….”
Amazing how these Kate trolls follow from site to site to site defending the Queen.
R.A. - for the record, while I disagree with Kate on this thing - I have absolutely no problem defending her against any of Kinsella’s accusations against her.
I don’t consider X. to be a “troll”. My definition of a troll is someone who is uncivil and throws out insults instead of arguments. X. - while I partially disagree with him on this - isn’t trolling, he’s making an argument.
