An Iranian PhD student in St. John’s, Newfoundland - Farhood Azarsina (pictured) - was sentenced to an additional 18 days in prison for sexually assaulting a woman on an elevator (he’s already served 3 weeks while awaiting trial). He said it was an ‘impulse’.
This was the pig’s defence:
You can’t expect all males [...]

The first is of a church just down the street from me and the [...]

Was Muhammad hung?
A question that popped into my head while reading an article titled “Do Ayatollahs Fart?“. It obliquely addresses the troubling humanity of our idols. It stops at the clergy, but let’s take it a step further.
Was Muhammad hung? If he wasn’t hung, then what does that say about him as a man? [...]

To say the least
If we had people dancing on top of dead bodies that would indeed be disrespectful
The quote is from the designer of the Carnival float pictured below. It’s showing the holocaust. Jewish groups are a bit upset, claiming it’s insensitive. Read the whole thing here.

Some principles from the Liberals and their Toronto Centre standard bearer - Bob Rae:
“We support the government’s decision to withdraw from preparatory meetings for the 2009 Durban conference. The first meeting was turned into a political circus, and became a platform for blatant anti-Semitism and an effort to make the very existence of Israel illegitimate. [...]

I can work another 12 hours and still have stuff to do at the office. The first picture is the sunrise as seen from my apartment, and the second is the sunset as seen from my office. It really was an amazing sunrise, this photo is au naturale:

News today that Canada is planning on boycotting the upcomming UN anti-racism conference - the so-called “Durban II”. Durban referes to the location of the first anti-racism conference in South Africa. You can read more about that here, but suffice to say that the conference was more about promoting racism than stopping it [...]

Hogwater Grunts
The Atlantic is now free on line. allahu akbar! They got rid of Mark Steyn, so one less reason to read it, but they still have Robert Kaplan of the aforementioned Hogwater Grunts (actually Hog Pilots, Bluewater Grunts). It’s his latest book about the US military. You can get a feel [...]

Rethinking the Reserve
The National Post has a series called “Rethinking the Reserve“. They’re looking into the problems of reserves, and how we can fix these problems. By now everyone is familiar with what’s wrong with Indian reserves: they’re poor, run down, with no roads and few jobs and fewer community services.
The solution of the left [...]

Europe’s Policy of Failure
There’s been a lot of hype about the latest issue of Foreign Policy Magazine. The cover story is called ‘A World Without Islam‘. But buried in that issue is a far more interesting story on European economic education. The article is a survey of European high-school economics textbooks. If you are from [...]
