Liberal star candidate Marc Garneau has decided not to run in the 2009 Federal election. Another victory for Citoyen Dion surely. Garneau was a supporter of Ignatieff’s in the leadership race and had attempted to run in Outremont in the recent by-election:
Garneau became discouraged when Liberal Leader Stephane Dion announced three or four [...]

Atheist Blogroll
Back when I re-did the blog I dropped a lot of links. One thing I dropped was the atheist blogroll. Bad karma that. So to put things right, here is the blogroll again. Please visit all of these sites or go to hell. And/or.

The point I take from this film isn’t that we should abolish the public system, or that it’s all bad. The point that I’m taking away from this is that Geroge Smitherman is a boob.
This appears to be borne out by all of the available evidence.
During the last federal election, he said he would [...]

Amahdinejad is super!
That’s summarizing the comments you’ll find in the New York newspapers. Yay Amahdinejad, boo-sucks to Columbia U. President Bollinger. If you have been in a cave under a rock for the last week, Columbia University President (and renowned/chastened first amendment scholar) Bollinger hosted Iranian President Mahmoud Amahdinejad. Introducing Amahdinejad, Bollinger said:
“Mr. President, [...]

Needy city still unloved
Funny web-page from the city of Toronto - a list of the federal MPs that support them [notice the big EMPTY space]:
Why, oh why would no one want to give them money? Oh right, now I remember, because every time we give them anything, they hand it over to their unions.

Via Facebook [most of the quotes come from this issue of the U.Vic. Student Paper]:
The University of Victoria Student Society recently banned Canadian military recruiters from it’s annual career fair, alleging that Canadian Armed Forces have committed war crimes and other atrocities in Afghanistan.
Some notable quotes by members of the UVSS :
Tim Fournier from Students [...]

Dilbert’s mea culpa
Dilbert creator Scott Adams has been taking a lot of heat on the web and in his own comments for his “satire” the other day in which he appeared to show sympathy for Amahdinejad. Today he issued a mea culpa:
In reading the comments to my post yesterday, I see that many of you were [...]

If John Tory wins…
…or the ‘Sum of All Liberal Fears’ I couldn’t decide on a title. Anyhow, I can’t watch this video enough. Toronto - nuked.
FYI: we’re probably moving there next year. And were I a resident of the town right now, I would be voting John Tory - albeit only for lack of better options.

“Interesting” blog post on Dilbert author, Scott Adams’ blog today. Re Amahdinejad’s calling the holocaust a ‘myth’:
Aren’t there any Iranian words for saying a set of historical facts has achieved an unhealthy level of influence on a specific set of decisions in the present?
What would be a healthy level of influence for the holocaust [...]

BQ Ultimatum
Today the BQ threw down the gauntlet - sort of. The Bloc Quebecois have issued 5 ‘non-negotiable’ demands that the Tories must meet in order to get BQ support.
This comes less than a week after the BQ saw the collapse of their vote in Quebec and two weeks after Stephane Dion’s ultimatum to the [...]

As I write this, the Canadian Dollar is trading at 99.9cents US. It hit parity yesterday and actually rose above $1.00 US. It hasn’t done this since my first birthday. Bloomberg is reporting that this may be a long-term situation.
I hope it is. We Canadians have been lazy, the low [...]
